It doesn’t mean you’re lazy

So far, I’ve shared with you what Leaning OUT means. Now, let me clarify what it does not mean.

If you choose to Lean OUT:

  • it does NOT mean you’re lazy
  • it does NOT mean you don’t care about your job or your coworkers
  • it does NOT mean you judge others who choose to Lean In
  • it does NOT mean you’re ungrateful for your education or your opportunities
  • it does NOT mean you don’t care about finding professional fulfillment

In my case, Leaning OUT does mean:

  • I care more about my family than I do my job (isn’t it weird that I feel guilty for saying that out loud?)
  • I’m not motivated by money or titles
  • I have very clear priorities and boundaries and I hold firmly to them
  • I say “no” to things that aren’t important to me and I decide for myself what’s important to me
  • I make room in my life for unexpected joys
  • I’m true to who I am, not to who others think I am
